Decorating For Large Plants
Many of us have had a room in our home dedicated to our love for large plants. If we do not have a large space, we have used different flower arrangements and still others have used the leaves and branches from the trellis in the garden. In truth, you can use any old ceiling, or simply another section of your ceiling for such a purpose.
There are many reasons to choose plants as opposed to buying the flowers that people make so much fuss about. There is a natural use for all kinds of plants. When trees die, there is an effort to find replacements. There is no such effort when plants die.
One simple question to ask before we begin is what is the best use for such a space? With that question in mind, we can get to the choice of whether to get plants, or just a big plant arrangement. Large plants may make a more dramatic statement than a bunch of pretty reds and yellows. Whatever you decide to get, it will be beautiful in your home. Make sure that you put a little thought into choosing a design for your walls or floor and the plants.
If you have one or two or more hanging plants that you would like to display on a wall, there are several options available to you. You could hang some tall vines along the ceiling or on one side of the wall. But if you have several hanging plants, then you might want to consider placing them on either side of the wall so that you can have a place to rest your feet or reach for a cup of coffee or tea.
If your home is large, there is often a large piece of furniture that you can turn into a table where you can rest in one of the hanging plants or use as a desk for your computer or laptop. You can arrange the plants in interesting ways, such as in a group or in an up and down pattern, or in a cluster. Using a nice design for the hanging plants can also be a great way to hide other furniture. For example, if your couch has a lot of pillows, some arrangements could help to cover them while still showing off the beautiful colors.
Of course, you may choose to hang the plants in the rooms themselves. If you have a king size bed in the living room, a large grouping of flowers, vines, or branches will add a beautiful touch. Or, you can use the larger plants as accent pieces by placing them in other areas of the room, such as on the dining room table.
All of these options are appropriate for indoor plants. In fact, most people find that it is best to hang the indoor plants in their own rooms rather than in the hallway or at the end of the hall. If you are planning to hang your indoor plants in the living room, be sure to consider placement in relation to other decorating elements such as the television or computer or as a way to hide the other furniture.
